  1. I have the MyHD MPH 130 capture card. The card receives over the Air
HD and records and plays back transport streams fine. But HD channels that I receive over Time Warner cable display fine live but any time I record it, the playback pauses and jumps some. Almost to the point of being unwatchable. A friend of mine has a linux PVR with the AirStar-HD5000-PCI card and notices the same problem. Anyone know why or a fix for this?

Have you tried using mpeg2repair for your transport stream?

    Just a thought,

When you are viewing the live stream the card is doing hardware acceleration in the preview path to the display card. When you play the file with a software player like vlc, there is no hardware acceleration or the player is accessing display card hardware through DirectX.

They may have packaged a player that works with the card hardware.

When I play a HD MPeg2_TS file with VLC through an ATI Theater 200 card, it usually plays without jumps even when set for deinterlace.
