FireWire networking is fairly easy to set up. Here's one guide: http://www.lifehacker.com/software/file-transfer/transfering-files-between-two-compute...ast-105906.php
You should be able to find more by doing a Google search for 'firewire networking for Mac'

Once you have the systems connected, you should be able to stream media over the connection. I just use one computer as a file server and access the video or audio file with a player on the other computer.

I'm doing this with a Ethernet connection now, but it works similarly with FireWire.

  3. Thanks, but I wasn't specific enough.

I meant just video playback... on the fly conversion to DV that plays back on the firewire-enabled TV.

You need a DV format player. I know of many on the PC (like WinDV), but not for MAC.

You can play your file with iMovie as if recording to a camcorder as one example. Bottom line you need a DV player that redirects or parallels playback to the Firewire port.

  5. Will VirtualDV playback over firewire?
