    Hello

Can one use the new DVD+RW burners to burn VCD (MPEG-1) format video to DVD+R(W) disks, and then play back those disks on a standalone DVD player as one would with regular CDRs?

To explain why I want to do this:

I have every epsiode of the simpsons (270+) on about 100 VCD CDRs. That is about 70 minutes of VCD MPEG1 video per disk. It is also a lot of CDRs though! I watch the videos on my television with a standalone DVD player. No problems.

I want to take all of those videos and burn them to DVD+R disks in VCD format, so that I can compile the 100 CDRs to about 10 double sided DVD+R disks, and watch them on my television with my DVD player.

Can this be done? Are there any issues with burning DVD+Rs at VCD bitrate? Are there any issues with DVD players playing back VCD MPEG1 video when burned onto DVD+R disks? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks,

    Nicolas

DVD supports mpeg1 so you should be able to author and burn mpeg1 files on a dvdr(w)...maybe you need to convert the audio to 48khz or else it wont be 100% dvd compliant.

  3. I have put a VCD format film onto a DVD-RWwith no problems at all using "MY DVD" Drag and drop . Not sure if its the same with DVD+RW. I'm gonna be getting a DVD+RW writer next week, if you've not done it by then drop me a note and i'll give it a go. BTW.. Which +RW writer did you buy and which software did it come with? How do you rate it?
