Does anyone know what is exactly supported?
I tried to upload a 1080p VP9 but it plays H.264.
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

YT always re-encodes and you never get playback of the original file as-is (But it is archived at YT)
What version you get back (for playback in browser) depends on your mainly on your browser configuration and OS
You can select what version to download with youtube-dl and various other downloaders (for downloading, not for browser playback) -
Then how do I view it on Youtube?
I tried both with HTML5 on Firefox and Chrome but the codec indicates: avc1.640028 -
Chrome should get it automatically on Win7 / 8 / ?10
It might still be processing. Either wait a while or check to see if it's available with youtube-dl -
Looks like you are right, right now youtube-dl only shows 640x360 as available for webm.
