Any suggestions for a good but easy to use MKV editor, I want to cut/edit certain action sequences from MKV files I have ripped from DVDs. I only intend to apply basic fade effects and ideally if easily done, slow the framerate down.

You can only cut on I frames in a MKV container so you may not be able to edit precisely where you want to.

  3. If you don't mind reencoding (and the concommitant loss of quality) you can cut anywhere you want. If your MKV files contain MPEG 2 video from DVDs (typically made by MakeMKV) there should be keyframes about every half second. If that's sufficient for you there are several editors (you may have to remux from MKV to MPG to use them) that can cut on keyframes with no loss of quality. There are also "smart" editors that can cut MPEG2 with frame accuracy and only reencode the cut GOPs.
