It's an AMD driver issue. See here. You need to roll back your driver.

Since I don't have any AMD hardware, I don't know about it in detail, so try googling.

...and it seems you got it.

Have googled it quite a bit... Havent been able to find anything about how to specify a different output format or pix format in StaxRip though.

It's not something you can handle in StaxRip. The problem is more fundamental. It's what's called a tool issue.

  4. I encoded a file with x265 with chunk=2. After 18 hours, the muxing failed. Only the first half was muxed and the 2nd half nowhere to be seen. Pretty much stunned here.

    Any help?

    ---------------------------- Muxing to MP4 ----------------------------

    ffmpeg N-102464-gc6ae560a18-x64-gcc10.3.0 Patman
You need to use MP4Box, not ffmpeg as the mp4 muxer in chunk encoding.

  6. OK but that doesn't help. How do get the 2nd part ...chunk2.hevc to convert to mp4. My usual tricks didn't work.

If you failed it in your first job because you set ffmpeg as the mp4 muxer, you can mux/splice the HEVC streams manually using MP4Box in the console (like the Command Prompt, etc.).

"C:\Users\NOYB\Desktop\Small Files\StaxRip-v2.6.0-x64\\Apps\Support\MP4Box\MP4Box.exe" -add "E:\currser\BABYLON5\new\Soul Hunter new after spotless_temp\Soul Hunter new after spotless_out.hevc" -cat "E:\currser\BABYLON5\new\Soul Hunter new after spotless_temp\Soul Hunter new after spotless_out_chunk2.hevc" -new "E:\currser\BABYLON5\new\Soul Hunter new after spotless.mp4"
If you haven't closed the project, you can get the command line by switching to MP4Box as the muxer, and clicking on Command Line... in Container Options.

Another method you can try if you haven't deleted the project and its temp folder: switch to MP4Box leaving video encoder settings unchanged ⇨ (choose already encoded audio files) ⇨ Click on Nextskip re-encoding the video streams ⇨ Start the job.

Run the command line in the Command Prompt(CMD), not in the PowerShell window.
    It's a syntax difference.

I just realized the spline resize filters are gone from the menu selections, having updated to 2.8.0 from some beta version, and I guess it's because there are better choices?

But what? I guess the default bicubicresize it's actually OK in practice, but what miniscule differences I have ever seen with different resizers have not been in favor for bicubicresize. I have used spline36 for many, many years because I saw it recommended in several places being sort of middle of the road, good for most everything. I think I read something like "use spline36 unless you really know what you're doing", which was very appealing advice and made sense.

Now, I manually changed (or at least think I did) the resize method to spline36, but as I said, I assume it's actually gone for a reason, that it's obsolete? And that I should pick another go-to resize method which at least in theory is better?

Available resize methods from the menu in StaxRip 2.8.0:

    CropResize
    Dither_Resize16
    Dither_Resize16 in Linear Height
    Hardware Encoder
    NNEDI3_rpow2
    ResizeMT
    SuperRes

I did start to google, but it was kind of overwhelming, technical gobbledygook. But I saw that SuperRes seemed to be specialized, NNEDI3_rpow2 even more so, and that CropResize is not what I want.

Right now I'm encoding a old interlaced dvd, 720x480 with some cropping, resizing to 640x480 and using qtgmc. This is a very common scenario. I'm also doing a lot of re-encodes of high bitrate stuff, 4K and 1080p, to 1080p and 720p, anamorphic at times, encoding a 4:3 video stretching it to 16:9. I'm nearly always striving to get as low bitrate as possible, getting the quality good enough for my eyes. Using x265 crf quality 20-26 depending on the source and test encodes.

No, Spline resizers are certainly not generally "obsolete", they are fine for several uses.

Apparently the general resize filters are now in a separate dialog which pops up when you select the "Resize..." entry. The other resizers you listed are in a submenu branch "Advanced".

Ok, I completely missed that menu option. But I clicked around _a_lot_... I think that there's no > there makes me believe it's just the name of the menu or something, that it's not selectable and expandable. I got really surprised when something popped up. Many thanks!

(Note to developer: Looking at the menu selections, I think it would be more intuitive if the main resize selections showed up and where available directly in the menu that opens up when you hover over the resize option, like it is for most (all?) of the other menu options and subsections. Since there is a difference - a whole separate window with buttons popping up - there might be something special with this subsection that I as a user am not aware of, of course. But, as a user, I can't see a reason for it being different. Next best thing would be if the second Resize also had a ">" sign after it, the three dots there didn't do it for me at least... And many thanks for this wonderful tool, it's has been so nice to not have to struggle with putting together everything manually to get qtgmc to work properly.)

  16. I think there is a bug with Staxrip 2.8.0 and TemporalDegrain2

TD2 is slowing rendering down way more than it should. Usually FPS is lowered to about 45% of a normal output (just with QTGMC and nothing else).
e.g if you get 20 FPS, its probably 8-9 with TD2 enabled.

But with 2.8.0 it drops to 2-3 FPS. So its 3x worse than it should be.

I have just come from Staxrip 2.6.0, so tested this back and forth between the two Staxrip versions, same file, exact same settings.

And its the same whether you use TD2 advanced settings, or just leave it as TemporalDegrain2()

When I load a d2v in Staxrip 2.8.0. it changes the framerate in the file from 29970 to 23976 (the video is a film and 97.5% progressive). I demuxed the video with dgmpgdec2006 and set Honor Pulldown Flags so Staxrip should read that information instead of what's in the m2v, right? Is this a bug? I don't know much about this, so I could be dead wrong. Is there a way to fool the program and prevent it from showing the video as progressive or interlaced (shown after SDR in the GUI)? A small cut from the full video I demuxed with dgmpgdec2006 worked like that so I could use IVTC on that file. I need to do that on the whole video but if Staxrip keeps changing the info in the d2v I won't be able to get rid of the remaining interlaced frames in between the progressive frames using TFM(D2V="Video.d2v").TDecimate().
    Any help?

  18. Trying to get this plugin to work.

    https://github.com/WolframRhodium/VapourSynth-BM3DCUDA

Doesn't auto-load when dropped into the plugin folder. Nor does it appear in the Apps > Manage list like other plugins. All the other CUDA/OpenCL plugins do work like KnlmeansCL and NNEDI3CL, etc.

    Latest StaxRip, Win10, Nv 1660

Appreciate a script or steps to add the plugin. Thx

In the X265 section there is a way to disable Encodind Setting, so that it does not appear in Medianfo?

Hi, I haven't used the program for a while.I update to the latest version and I get that error when trying to rip with the graphics card, something that did not happen in very old versions

H.265/HEVC isn't supported by the graphics card.

StaxRip.ErrorAbortException: H.265/HEVC isn't supported by the graphics card.

my card is a GTX1060 is it no longer compatible?

Occasionally, IIRC. No reason to fix what's not broken.

staxrip repo at github is the main development location.

Yes I just miss regular tool updates. Functionally nothing needs to be added for my use but that there are no tool updates for over 6 months is very disappointing. From my point of view, it should be possible to update them at least every 3 months.

Most of them don't change much either, and if they don't alter their command line option syntax, they could be manually replaced.

sounds like you are trying to run code compiled for a powerful CPU on a less powerful CPU which does not support an advanced instruction set.

So what is you exact CPU model? Does it support e.g. AVX2 at all?

AVX2 is not supported on my CPU. Is this a necessary requirement for this plugin to work?

The issue is in line 30 of CASm.avsi:

    Code:
    EdgeMask = aSobel(IntensityMask, chroma = 0, thresh = 255, SetAffinity = false).invert.Levels(0, 2, LevelLimit, 0, LevelLimit, coring=false).Blur(1)
The rest is harmless; the only plugin which might have requirements could be plugins_JPSDR.dll (providing the aSobel function).

I have no clue what the exact reason is. Let's wait for a more experienced reply...
