HDCP on a HTPC does not work.

Here is my issue:
I have a HTPC that I use Beyond TV 4 to watch and rec. TV. I just bought an LG Blu-ray player. The video card is made by Gigabyte the chipset is an Nvidia GeForce 7600 GS, which is supposed to have HDCP support. I have a Toshiba 42" Regza 42HL167. This TV has 3 HDMI connections that are supposed to be HDCP compatible.

I just bought a cable from newegg that is also supposed to be HDCP compatible. I cant play any movie that has HDCP. So what am I missing?

When I run Cyberlink's Blu-ray Disc Advisor it tells me that my video card supports HDCP, but it recommends upgrading. It also says that my Video Connection Type is Digital (without HDCP).

I'm not sure what else to do. Everything I have supports HDCP but it will not work.

My guess the problem is your videocard, on newegg it doesn't say "HDCP Ready". Try a nVidia driver update, if that doesn't help then buy a new videocard with HDMI output.

BTW:AnyDVD works because it's stripping away any encryption, it might be worth buying if you plan on backing-up your Blu-ray's.

Yeah, if you go to the Gigabyte web site it explicitly mentions HDCP compatibility for many cards. It doesn't mention HDCP for the GV-NX76G256D-RH.

Note that many cards in the past were advertised as "HDCP compatible". Unfortunately, all that meant was the GPU was compatible with an external HDCP encryption chip. But those cards didn't include the HDCP chip. Some didn't even have a socket for one so adding one wasn't even an option.

AnyDVD also removes "the need" for HDCP compliancy, I had all HDCP hardware and could not clone desktops (from PC monitor to HDTV) w/ blu ray because that is not allowed under HDCP, AnyDVD fixed that rediculus limitation
