What conditions? Analog capture? If so, probably standard lack of TBC.

Sounds like one the primary colors is clipping, can you describe your capture workflow, like capture source, cables used (component, S-Video ...) software used, Don't expect help with a vague question, members are not going to make an effort to guess what is the question before answering it.

JVC SVHS DECK > PANASONIC ES10 > KEY DIGITAL KD-VP8 > BLACK MAGIC INTENSITY PRO 4K
Like i say i have no issues at all untill purple is on the screen :/ -

What cables are you using between the ES10 and Key DIgital, and between the Key digital and Blackmagic? It may be worth trying to try using component instead of s-video, or s-video instead of component, whichever you are using, and also HDMI from Key digital to blackmagic if you aren't already.

You can do some easy diagnostic steps to single out the faulty component, Try one device at a time and report back.

upgraded to better quality phono video cables and the issue is sorted - so thank you all for your help and the image seems alot better aswell
-
For best results your cables should be as follows:
- JVC to Panasonic -> S-Video cable
- Panasonic to KD -> S-Video Cable
- KD to BM -> HDMI cable
You should not need any RCA (Phono) cables. -
well the issue came back so i removed the KEY DIGITAL KD-VP8 and all is perfect now .... tested all the same footage and not one drop out

K Digital has some buttons for video settings, maybe you're clipping the values. That's the reason why video scalers are not suitable for capturing, HDMI is a display port and is no meant to be a digital port to capture video from.
