Hi All, my team had an equipment failure in video recording and I really hope to retrieve /or salvage :'( anything out of the DAT file. Sorry I know very very little about video codec, tried my best to read thru "Video repair tool" FAQ / test all the options / search for "missing audio" in the forum. Your help is greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!
Camera was Canon VIXIA HF G30. Also would it help to put original SD card (untouched so far other than copying data) back into the camera? Any caution or tips there?
When I clicked "scan" in video repair tool, it gave me a 50% playable video (DAT) but no audio. I have tried the following options one at a time:
- default options: no sound
- overwrite header: no sound
- enable AAC / enable PCM: no sound
- save raw video+audio to files: no files produced
- enable AVC1 single mode: no sound
- reencode mp4 same quality: no sound

I see this in the product manual
"Memory card A/B writing error Attempt to recover the data? (Can take up to 3 min.)- This message will appear the next time you turn on the camcorder if power supply was accidentally interrupted while the camcorder was writing to the memory card. Select [Recover] to try to recover the recordings. If you inserted a memory card that contains scenes recorded using another device, we recommend that you select [No]"
Have you tried this? -

Also tried recover_mp4 tool and the video plays fine but audio turned out 95% choppy.

OK I consider this particular file more or less saved. The AAC file retrieved by recover_mp4 can be opened in audacity OK. The resulting audio is 16:03 while video is 18:20, but such is life...
Thank you very much.Last edited by funlul; 22nd Apr 2019 at 16:05.
