How to fix this? Got the splitter to break the HDCP on my bud's cable system but the second converter going to the recorder (Sony 300 series) gives a postage stamp (rectangle within rectangle) effect on the picture. Otherwise, all channels are now recordable. Devices used:

    and

    http://www.amazon.com/ViewHD-Port-Powered-Splitter-1080P/dp/B004F9LVXC/ref=sr_1_1?s=el...+hdmi+splitter

Any idea how to fix this so the aspect ratio is correct? I notice the TV says the pic is 720p. How would that be possible if the signal the recorder expects is supposed to be 480i? thinking we might have to go through the Rf input instead as direct connect to the TV that way results in the correct picture aspect ratio however, the cable box won't let you record the signal ( which is why the HDMI splitter was used). Is there an HDMI to Rf output box then?

The TV says the pic is 720p with the TV connected to what device and using which connection?

What connections does the cable box offer?
