    Hi everyone!

I used VirtualDub to capture some movies from analog TV, but in one instance, when I clicked "Stop capture", instead of acting normal, it froze completely. I had to alt+ctrl+del and close it, so I could capture the next file.

I still have an 8,68 GB file from that capture, so I'm guessing I have the video. But when I try to open it with Media Player Classic, I get an error message and the video won't play. It also didn't work with Windows Media Player.

I captured using Xvid compression for video and no compression for audio. The error message I get from MPC is this:

    -----------------------------------------------

"Media Player Classic could not render some of the pins in the graph, you may not have the needed codecs or filters installed on the system.

So, is there any way I can still use this file? I'm sorry if this has been answered before, but I couldn't find it here in the forums.

I would try VLC or AVIDemux. If VLC opens it, you might be able to stream the content to a new file.

  3. The file is missing the keyframe list at the end. Try using DivFix to rebuild it. Or open it with VirtualDub and Direct Stream Copy both the audio and video (VirtualDub will rebuild the list) to a new file.

Thank you very much, Slinger and jagabo! It seems opening the file with VirtualDub itself will fix the problem.
