Assistance w/ Creating/capturing w/ either Ulead or Premier6

I have been trying to convert all of our home videos onto DVD. However, I am getting frustrated with it. Can anyone assist me? I have premiere 6 and ulead workshop 2.0. I have tried workshop 2.0 but when I captured them, it seperated them into 47 files for my first video tape which I couldn't recombine and then split into chapters. PRemier is just confusing.

What I would like to do is this: 3 chapters that I can combine some of the AVI's with on each. I don't want to have sections for each otherwise I would have to have 47. I tried to combine them but I can't seem to get that going either. I have tried premier but it is really confusing. I have a digital8 trv110 I think. I know it is digital 8 and I use the firewire adapter to convert.

I'm not looking for professional, but I am looking for good quality picture.

they have tons of tutorials for premiere. its too hard for me to explain here, so go watch some tutorials and you will get the hang of it
