Tried best -o audio.mp3 but get error 11004 getaddrinfo failed

It looked like the kind of URL that would just download. So I tried it. You can also play it directly in many media players if you take out the back-slashes:

It is not HLS, so telling Livestreamer to use the HLS protocol was not going to work.

It has already been said that you should remove the back slashes. Without the back slashes you can download it with your browser or play it with some media players, like VLC.

You can also download it directly with Livestreamer using the httpstream protocol:

livestreamer "httpstream://http://cdn.radiocms.net/005/audio/000018/84770_media_player_audio_file.mp3" best -o filename.mp3
