    Looks like effortlessly scrubbing 8K video will soon be a reality. Will be expensive no doubt.

    You're kidding yourself if you think any main stream cpu is capable of "effortlessly scrubbing 8k video"; I have a Skylake based quad core Xeon and can't scrub 4k60 "effortlessly".

    I/O is not the limiting factor.
