  1. I am in the process of creating a 4 channel wave file.

It dawn on me most wave player only do mono or stereo.

What can I use to play back wave file with more than two channels ?

I won't even mind play back just one or two at a time from the four channels.

Those players will, in all likelihood, down mix to stereo

Audacity will play up to at least 6 channel wav file that I've tested, but like guns1inger said, it probably downmixes to stereo for play back.

Kristal Audio Engine will play all tracks and allow you to edit each one, but will only allow export of two at a time.

Plugue Bidule will play all tracks. It will allow editing of each and will export all at once.

Many others I'm sure can also do this.

Use the "Mixer" to play back your tracks. It will show the volume levels of each track as well as Total. It will allow to adjust and filter each track to get the sound you want.
