I am not able to get S/PDIF to work properly with ffdshow. I am using a Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio Notebook connected to a 5.1 receiver. The only way I'm able to get output is to first open the video and then select AC3 (S/PDIF encode mode) within the ffdshow settings. The soundcard will then switch over to passthrough mode. If I just leave it set to S/PDIF either there on the output tab or if I disable the DTS/AC3 codecs and switch to purely S/PDIF modes for those formats Media Player Classic will attempt to start playing the media file but will then bring up an error window. After that it will only play video. I used to use AC3Filter and the only way that it would work would be if I enable S/PDIF only after starting to play a media file. What can I do to remedy this?
