What is a piece of software called that takes a big video and takes cuts out of it and creates subsequent pieces into file it a certain time interval?
Is there a good one that is free ?
I have several mkv files that I created from vob files and I would like to make them into there smaller files in mkv, preferably with a slider that you put at the intervals. these at minutes: second of the beginning and end?

    mkvtoolnix has a split-by-time option

  3. Lossless cuts (no-reencoding) can only happen on keyframes.

If you want a preview + no-overlap frame accurate cut on markers, Avidemux can be used, otherwise mkvtoolnix is a good choice.

Is there one that has a slider bar that allows you to tell it the begining and end then cut and allows you to paste it into a new project? John

what I am doing is that :
    (1) I have a goofy movie that has "how to ride a horse" on it called "Goofy's TV Sports " and is in mp4 format
    (2) I would to cut at the end points of "how to ride a horse "
    (3) Then paste the cutting in a new window of the program
    (4) then rename it form "Goofy's TV sports to "how to ride a Horse"
    (5) then save it to mkv

    what software can do this
