  1. Hi

I just got a DVD from a client. I need to rip that DVD on my HD, cut it in peaces and use some of it in a after effects composition. What is the best and easiest way to do it. Also with as less as possible loosing quality of that footage.

    Thanx in advance

    Hi scarlac,

If you don't have it already, download and install the free Panasonic DV Codec.

Rip the DVD to a single VOB file.

Load that VOB file into VirtualDubMod (free).

    Do the following:

    * Click: Video -> Full Processing Mode
    * Click: Video -> Compression and select the Panasonic DV Codec
    * Click: File -> Save as... and save to a DV AVI.

The DV AVI is a very good format for After Effects and will be unnoticeable loss in quality.
