  1. I am looking for a method of embedding closed captions into the video file, ensuring the captioning is always available, making it easy to archive only one file (the video file).

    Suggestions?

    Do you want to burn them into the image or make them switchable on or off?

    Neither.
    I do have one video file and two files containing the closed captioning.

    I make the video ant captioning in Premiere Pro CC.

    To simplify re-use I like to archive both the captioning files and the (clean) video file in our video archive. So I look for a way to save it all into one file in the archive.

    Premiere Pro supports embedding into and decoding from the following file formats:

    MOV
    DNxHD MXF Op1a
    MXF Op1a
