    This is almost as feature rich as my Panasonic RP91, which retails for US$800. (I paid under US$450 though.)

    That player is also rumored to play VRO files created with set top DVD recorders.

    Yep. That why there is DVD-RAM support: so that you can use the DVD-RAM discs from the Panasonic DMR-E20.

    My Panasonic RP91 plays discs from the Hitachi DVD-RAM camcorders, which I believe are also DVD-VR.

    And Hitachi promises on their web site that all of it's future players will support VRO recordings.
