  1. Do any of the compact all in one units provide individual frame data from the film as opposed to an already compressed movie?

Has anyone hacked one of these units with new firmware to do so?

  2. There is a modification for the Wolverine scanner that costs around £200

It then allows you to take .png .jpg or .tiff still images.

You would need to head the Film to Digital section of this forum

Find Stan who developed the Hawkeye mod for the scanner, which you can get an idea of from my video of the mod

The results are better but not perfect, considering the extra cost, you would do well to research a better camera and lens than I have.

I am aware the development of the mod has been moving at a pace and I haven't read up on where it is today, there may already be alternative versions up and running. I am happy with my early version.

The firmware has been hacked but not for still images, it still produces an mp4 file

You can find the hacks here, but I can't promise they won't brick a scanner as I have never been able to test them, the hacks were not recognised by my Wolverine, others have reported some success.....
