Hi, I'm using Sony Vegas 13. I have a project which need to submit to broadcaster in MOV HD 422. Obviously Sony vegas does not have that MOV format. So from Vegas I render the video and audio separately. Video in MXF 422 and Audio in wave 24bit 48Khz.
But when i import video and audio files in FCP 7, the wave files are not sync at all.
Actual duration is 1 min (25fps) 00:01:00:00, but in FCP the wave file duration shows as 00:00:59:28
Please suggest on any idea.

I'm sorry. My Mistake.
Duration on Render 01:00:00 (1 Min)
In fcp
video duration is 01:00:00
Audio duration is 00:59:28
Why 24bit? That is broadcast requirement 24bit 48Khz
Actually I run some test in windows with other application like Premier Pro
Both video and audio are sync. Only when I layout both files in FCP 7, I got this non sync problem.
Project property in vegas is 25fps
Project property in FCP 7 is 25fps
Rendered Video in 25fps
Rendered audio with same setting.
I'm wonder why in windows in other video application in fine, but in Mac it assume the wave file as 29.97fps even FCP sequence setting in 25fps.
Note: If I render MXF video with audio then it's fine in FCP. The reason I want to render audio separately because when I need to edit the audio in vegas, I'll re-render the audio again and update it in FCP to render in MOV. That's the reason that I need to render Video and Audio files separately.Last edited by elsontommas; 11th May 2017 at 11:36.

It's been a long time since I've used FCP7, but I seem to recall you can right click or select any clip and change its properties. FCP interprets different frame rates in various ways depending on how it is introduced to the timeline.
Since it's only a minute long, why not wait until you have the audio finished before outputting from Vegas? -
Thank you smrpix,
I tried as you said. Right click on clip, I can see clip setting. But Nothing showed. On right click i can see item property-timing which allow to me change the length of the clip. But i cannot change from 00:00:59:28 to 00:01:00:00.
Still fail.
But for trouble shoot further, tried open the clip in Soundtrack Pro it shows exact duration 1 min. Just to try I save as to other name and put new saved wav files back in FCP 7, now it sync.
Very strange. Looks like everytime before import to FCP, I need to open and save using Soundtrack Pro in order for me to work in FCP 7. But that is not the solution right.
any other suggestion and trouble shoot?
My project actually 1.5 hours. I just test the project using 1 minute duration. SO I still need proper solution for this. Thanks you. -
Thank you JVRaines.
i have used FFmpeg before, but pretty confusing.
If you know could you teach me on what is the syntax or parameters of ffmpeg for my situasion.
1. Remove existing audio from Source MOV
2. Adding 2 audio wave file to the source. 1st dialog audio into ch 1 & 2, 2nd Music audio into ch 3 & 4.
Thanks. -
Please clarify a couple of things.
You said you needed to deliver mov HD 422. Are we talking about XDCam as JVRaines is presuming or ProRes which is the only reason you might need a mac.
If you need ProRes, the trial version of convertv4 from HDCinematics can probably do the job for you on the PC with a more user-friendly interface than ffmpeg or ffmbc. You wouldn't need to demux your audio and video out of Vegas either. -
I need to deliver MOV XDCAM HD 422 50i (with 4 audio channel 24bit 48Khz)

?????
There must be some translation issue or misunderstanding
If you were doing a project in vegas, why didn't you edit the audio in that vegas project in the first place before exporting MXF ? You said the MXF is fine in FCP, only when you export audio separately do you encounter the sync issue in FCP
