hello, I'm newbie about editing video, so here is my question:

I need to extract just 2 minutes from a DVD movie, and then burn it into a new DVD, my
    questions are:

    1. is possible to rip just the 2 minutes instead of rip all the movie?
    2. could you recommend me a software to do this?
    3. what is the codec to display the video in most windows suystems?

I just need to cut and paste some scenes, add some subtitles and thats all

    regards

you can rip whatever you want. if it's going on a dvd you need to keep it in vob/mpeg-2 format. use dvdshrink in re-author mode and use the start/end function to cut the part you want.

2 minutes will make a mighty short dvd though.

I believe Magic DVD Ripper can rip just 2 minutes. Great software.
