    I downloaded avisynth, I created an mp4 from my DVD using handbrake, I have the DGIndex/Decode package but I have no idea what to do.

    I just want to get back in the swing of things creating a basic avisynth script. Can someone help with the basic steps?

    Thanks.

  2. 1. Open up Notepad.

    2. Make the first statement the "read" statement which opens up your MP4 file.

    3. Make the second statement something simple, like a resize statement.

    4. Save the file with the extension ".AVS".

    5. Open this AVS file in VirtualDub.

    That should get you started.

  3. Or even more simple, just to make sure you installed AviSynth properly:

    Create a text file but with the extension .avs. Inside have a single line:

    Version()

    Save it and open it in VDub using File->Open Video File. You should see a rectangle with the AviSynth version number on it.

    Read the startup pages at the AviSynth site.

    And if you'll be working with DVDs often, learn how to work with them and DGIndex and the DGDecode.dll and MPEG2Source in your AviSynth scripts by reading the docs included in the DGMPGDec package.

    Here's what I don't understand about the creators of these programs (Virtualdub, Avisynth, etc.): Why can't they just have SIMPLE INSTRUCTIONS, then I wouldn't have to come here!!!

    Sure. You insulted me and others multiple times in another thread, and for no good reason. Nothing's changed.
