Hi...
I have a mkv file, which when played in MPC-HC I can see there is two subtitle which is ass file and srt file as seen in the picture below :
But after I put the mkv file into mkvExtract, I can not see the embeded those two subtitle files - but mkvExtract said that there are 4 jpg file as seen in the picture below :
And if I mark all that 4 jpg and click the [extract] button, there is nothing happen.
No file has been made after the extraction.
Here is the media-info from the mkv file :
I also have tried to put the mkv file into handbrake, but handbrake also didn't show any file in the [subtitle] tab.Code:General Unique ID : 233059577852368640426903627413495449844 (0xAF55A458E178558689CE281D3B1B88F4) Complete name : K:\[Atraidez Data Center]\Film HD\04 najis audio video\X-Men - Apocalypse (2016) Hdrip Korsub\tai.mkv Format : Matroska Format version : Version 4 / Version 2 File size : 2.99 GiB Duration : 2 h 23 min Overall bit rate : 2 983 kb/s Movie name : X-Men.Apocalypse.2016.720p.HDRip.KORSUB.x264.AAC2.0-STUTTERSHIT Encoded date : UTC 2016-07-19 03:36:26 Writing application : mkvmerge v9.3.1 ('Mask Machine') 64bit Writing library : libebml v1.3.4 + libmatroska v1.4.5 Cover : Yes Attachments : small_cover.jpg / small_cover_land.jpg / cover.jpg / cover_land.jpg Video ID : 1 Format : AVC Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec Format profile : Baseline@L3.1 Format settings, CABAC : No Format settings, ReFrames : 1 frame Codec ID : V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC Duration : 2 h 23 min Width : 1 280 pixels Height : 720 pixels Display aspect ratio : 16:9 Frame rate mode : Constant Frame rate : 29.970 (29970/1000) FPS Color space : YUV Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0 Bit depth : 8 bits Scan type : Progressive Title : X-Men.Apocalypse.2016.720p.HDRip.KORSUB.x264.AAC2.0-STUTTERSHIT Language : English Default : Yes Forced : No Audio ID : 2 Format : AAC Format/Info : Advanced Audio Codec Format profile : LC Codec ID : A_AAC Duration : 2 h 23 min Channel(s) : 2 channels Channel positions : Front: L R Sampling rate : 44.1 kHz Frame rate : 43.066 FPS (1024 spf) Compression mode : Lossy Title : X-Men.Apocalypse.2016.720p.HDRip.KORSUB.x264.AAC2.0-STUTTERSHIT Language : English Default : Yes Forced : No
And the other weird thing is that after I put the mkv file into mkvToolNix, then without doing anything at all, (all green checked) , I just dirctly click [start multiplexing] button, the subtitles is gone in the resulted file. So, when I open the resulted file in MPC-HC, the [subtitle] option is grey-out.
My question is :
1. How do I extract that ass and srt file embeded in that mkv file ?
2. There are two subtitle files in the mkv file for sure, but how come either media-info, tsMuxer, Handbrake, MkvToolNix don't read those two embeded subtitle files ?
3. why I can't do the extraction of those 4 jpeg files ?
Anykind of help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advanced.

Hi,
try open the mkv file in Subtitle edit. If it is part of mkv, there shouldn't be problem. Maybe they are in same folder? What said Mkvtoolnix?
Mediainfo also doesn't mentioned, they are part of the file.

Hi Bernix and jan5678,
Thank you very much for your respond.
I feel so stupid and I'm sorry for this unnecessary question
It turn out that the subtitle files are external.
But I don't know it because the sub files is "a system file".
While I have tried before in a folder option to "show the hidden file" - but I didn't try the "show the system file".
After I post this question, I'm trying again to go to the folder option and this time I try the "show the system file".
Then there they are ... the ass and srt file.
Once again I'm sorry because I have wasted your time because of my mistake.
Thank you -
@reko
The stupidest question is the one you didn't asked, so no worries!
