In past forums we have determined that the Panasonic ES10S DVD Recorder makes a good "pass-through" device for older VHS to DV transfers. It corrects the timebase/stability issues (flagging and tearing) present in high generation VHS tapes - I have seen this first hand and I agree that it does a good job - in allot of cases, it does a better job than a DataVideo TBC-1000.
My question is - does anyone know what the Panasonic unit could have that the DataVideo unit doesn't?

It's a video synchronizer that seems to work differently than some of the others out there.

Has anyone found out if the Toshiba DR-4 can correct the flagging and tearing problem too?
