Accoording to the Apex AD-1500 manual:
"The AD-1500 DVD player will only play “Comercially” made VCD and SVCD’s. Apex does not know of any software
that will produce VCD’s or SVCD on a PC or MAC".
Since when is there "No software able to produce VCD's" on a PC?
I hope this is a typo.
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

they're just covering their legal bases.
I have an AD-1500 Apex sitting six feet to my left, and I assure you, it has played VCDs made with several different software apps, on several different media brands. And it isn't too fussy about them, either.-MPB/AZ
