As the the title says, I have had to do a full reinstall of apps and os, and now Tmpgenc encoder throws up an eror when I try to select an xvid avi media file, saying it cannot be supported.
I know it was before my re installation of everything , so what have I missed?
Thanks

Sorry, I have Tmpgenc encoder version 252.63.181, and yes I have installed the xvid codec. The funny thing is that Tmpgenc Express 4 doesn't complain and encodes the same avi file just fine. Gspot reprts that all the required codecs are installed, so what is it that is stopping Tmpgenc encoder?
Thanks -
you might need to change the priorities in options/environmental settings/vfapi plugins. usually giving the avi vfw compatiblily reader the lowest will allow it to work.

maybe it does't like the audio, try demuxing and only give it the video. iirc there were some like vbr mp3 it doesn't accept.

Ok, thanks, I'll stick with Tmpenc express for now, 'till I have chance to investigate etc.

Directshow has a priority of 4 which is at the top, AVI VFW reader is at the bottom with the value of -2.
Thanks -
You can also UNCHECK codecs, instead of just moving them.
In GSPOT, what does the render engine say is being used for these files?Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

Under Video, it says Codec Type xvid, Name Xvid, Codecs are installed
Under Proposed Solution and tests, it says:
[DivX Decoder filter]>--(C)-->[Video Renderer]
Status: Not rendered yet. Use [2] to render.
I'm not sure what other info you want other than above.
Out of interest I tried loading a different avi file into Tmpgenc encoder which it did encode before the re install, and now it throws up the same error message as the one I tried before, ie latest/recent xvid avi file.
Thanks -
did you install the latest XviD Codec?
