    Some background.

I have 2 Lite-On ATAPI DH20A4P burners installed. They both read/write audio CDs, they both read/write DVD-R's, and they both will BURN DVD+R's, but neither will READ them. For example, I just make a DVD thru Nero of some home video clips on a Verbatim DVD+R. Nero said it successfully finished the project and the disc plays in a standalone DVD player. In fact, all of my +R discs play in a standalone, but not my computer will not read them.

My system is XP SP3, and I only use Verbatim media on single-layer burns.

I have gone thru the sensible steps....checked firmware (current), even uninstalled the 2 drives and the IDE channel they are on. After re-installation, I got the same result.

Anyone else know what could be the problem?

Discs burnt with IMGBURN do the same thing... I usually create an image with Nero and then burn with IMGBURN -- and right after successfully burning with IMGBURN, the disc cannot be read in the drive.

I have tried probably 30 +R discs in both drives and none of them work. What is crazy is that it has not always been like this. Over the last year I have probably done 200 burns on these drives with +R discs. I have no clue what has changed.

  5. Long shot, but maybe corrupted filters. Did you install Nero's InCD packet-writing?

    Yeah still happens on re-boot.

I should add, I was just able to burn and then read a memorex DVD+R DL --- still having problems reading Verbatim +R Singles

I have Nero installed, and have updated the registry upper and lower filters.

That is kinda what I am thinking --- it is either that or the laser is dirty, which might affect its' ability to read certain media.

I was asking here in hopes I would not need to buy a new set of burners, but oh well.

one last thing to try is change the ide cable...never know it may cure your problem.....long shot but as LS mentions your drive maybe dying...i'm not fond of LITEON drives for burning dvd media...i use them strictly for ripping purposes.
