Well, then, don't be a mug.

Okay, I'm not taking the piss with you, let's try again:

It helps if you ask, "I wanna record a long piece of audio off myspace. I don't have any money to buy software. What do you recommend for free?" Or, "I wanna record a long piece of audio off myspace. I'll pay $400 for good software, as I want to get the best quality."

See, if you're not gonna tell us specifically what you want, don't be surprised if some wanker like me comes back at you with some smart-ass comment.

So, how much you got to work with?

EDIT: PS, for audio off myspace, it's just streamed audio to your PC, so any decent audio recording software will save your audio.

  11. Sometimes I get lucky.

Anyway, if you don't already have some audio recording software installed, and you're on a PC, check out Goldwave. It's easy to use, excellent quality, and if you're like me and a cheapskate, it's shareware so you can play with it quite a bit before you have to buy a copy. And even then it's like $50, which is ... what is that in pounds? Well, still pretty cheap.

I have friends who live in Bayswater and I love London so cheers yourself!

EDIT: Oh, yeah, Audacity, I would forget that. Anyway, lotsa good audio programs for free or cheap and you just record with your sound card wav out as the source and that's it!

It is possible to alter the recording time of Windows sound recorder so that it can record longer lengths of audio (don't ask me how tho coz i don't use it ... i have soundforge for such things) ... there have been several threads that include instructions on how to alter the record time in sndrec32.exe .... try searching the forum for either windows sound recorder or sndrec32

I'd use SoundForge and record the soundcard audio that is playing. Easy enough. I did exactly that a while back, recorded the demos that Sebastian Bach put up on the Damnocracy myspace.com page.

My fave for recording streams is total recorder. Now only $20, and can usually record quicker than real time.

Just download and open, incredibly easy and it works. I can't record from my soundcard with a soundrecorder either because my soundcard didn't allow them to download. It was secured in some sort of way. But this helped me!
