I am not looking for a video editor but a video SPLITTER! I want to load a large video and tell it 30 pieces and have it split that one file into 30 smaller video files. Is there such a creature?

  2. With manual piece selection:

Or do you want to automatically have split point e.g. every 5 minutes? Mkvtoolnix can do that (with some limitations).

HJ Split is the right idea but I need several video files (eg; avi, mpg, mp4)

  7. Here's a batch file to create a "segmented" (split by time @ nearest keyframe) video using ffmpeg:

  8. other tools that might be helpful:

for avi, vdub has file-> save as segmented avi, and there are some options in the dialog box such as split by number of frames/segment , or segment filesize

    for mp4, mp4box has -split time_in_seconds, or -splits size_in_kb . But it's CLI; I don't think many GUI's will support this feature
