For some reason I am having trouble with the timer recording funtion. I basically cannot get it to work. I set the program to record and when I hit the timer button on the remote nothing happens. I thought the unit is suppose to turn off after I hit that button. Any help or insight would be appreciated.

I figured it out. For some reason I had to switch from dvd to tv back to dvd to get the recorder to receive the signal for the timer record button...weird
