  1. Hey,

I've learned a couple of things about subtitle extraction from mkv files both from this site and Youtube tutorials and it has been enough to meet my needs so far, but now i've encountered a problem i can't seem to find a solution for.

As usual, i've been trying to extract some hardcoded subtitles from .mkv but none of the software i used in the past (such as MkvCleaver, MKVExtractGUI2 etc.) seems to be able to recognize them. I even tried installing earlier versions of those and MKVToolNix as instructed in several threads here but to no avail.

Any help would be much appreciated.

  2. Hard coded subtitles can't be demuxed, they are burned into the picture. They have to be OCR'd.

Yes, and there is software you can easily find and download that is designed to do just that.
