    Hello,
I have problem w/ overscan of AVI files w/ hardsubs.
I burned test these AVI files to DivX dvd to play on my stand alone dvd player.

The TV is widescreen and the Hardsubs are cut off at the bottom.
In short of having the subs placed higher (fansub groups placing to close to the bottom)

How can I fix this problem? If possibable I’d like to keep them as AVI files to burn as Divx dvds.
Is there a way that I can convert them and fix the overscan problem?

The original file is ripped from 4:3 aspect ratio and the rip is kept as such.
    video file info:
    Video Codec/Container: XviD/AVI
    Resolution: 720x592
    Audio: 192kbps AC3

Your resolution is both too large (it is a miracle that your DVD player even played a file with a resolution above 720x576) and strange. 720x592 is 1.21 to 1, which is less than 4:3. If you are sure that this ratio is correct, I'd advise re-encoding it down to 584x480, which will bring it under NTSC DVD's max resolution of 720x480. Hopefully then your subs will be OK. If not, try using 559x460.
