    first question ... is it possible to re-encode from CBR to VBR after the video is done ?

    and .. the following question is what do i need to encode in VBR ?

    you need to provide more information on what your source audio is and what you desire your destination audio to be.

    Yes, you can, provided your original CBR is at a high enough bit rate. CCE and Tsunami are two encoders that do VBR encoding.

    he's posted this in the audio section, so i dont think CCE & Tmpgenc are applicable in this situation.

    I'm going a bit blind here, since I can't really work out what you want to do from the details you've given, but ...


    You could always just convert video only with your video encoder and then convert your source audio to VBR using belight or bewsweet, depending on what type of audio you want to make (I'm guessing VBR MP3 ?)

    Then you'd just need to mux them together at the end, instead of converting both video and audio and then converting audio again.
