it's estimated that they will be here late half of 2015 or early 2016 and thus built using a 20nm or 14nm process, so they should be relatively power efficient.

since these are desktop cpu's, speculation is also rampant that AMD may offer a massive 16 module 32 core server class cpu to go against intel's upcoming 18 core xeons.

between AMD's upcoming ARMv8 based opteron and these cpu's, it seems that AMD hasn't forgotten about the high performance market segment.

it's too bad intel didn't listen to microsoft when those guys tried to get intel to build a 16 core atom based cpu.

last sentence was a completely unrelated thought that wasn't worthy enough of it's own post.

  3. Wonder what the TDP (Thermal Design Power) will be on that?

as you can see AMD already makes such a processor in the form of an Opteron based on Bulldozer cores and it only uses 115w at 2.1ghz. that's with a 32nm process.

one would think with a vastly better process, like 20nm or 14nm, they should easily be able to match that TDP at much higher clock speeds.

  5. Keep in mind that any time AMD says a new chip will be available in X months it will be 2X months before it's actually available.
