Survivability of DVDR media vs. CDR?

Which is more durable? CDR or DVDR ? I figure they both would last about the same length if un damage.

but which is more susceptible to data damage if there's light scratching to the surface?

I figure the same scratch to a DVD will cause more data loss than on a CDR

I just got my Sonu DRU500A and burning some DVDs. just kinda paranoid because so much more is packed into a single disc.

(but it is cool to replace 7 data CD disc with one DVD-R, now my cd holders have alot more room

really in a way , cd-r's are easier to damage as the burn layer is the top of the disk while dvd-r's the burn layer is sandwiched

also, DVD's use more advanced forms of error correction.
