Old VHS Tape Problem

Hi everyone,
I was trying to record an old VHS tape onto a DVD using the Toshiba DVR620. My dad suggested fast forwarding and rewinding the tape once, so that it would play better. There was video/audio initially, but once i rewound the tape, all I see when playing the video back is a black and white fuzzy screen and some audio. Any suggestions? Thanks!

You need to clean the video heads,also check for damage at the start of the tape.
