I bought mine in Singapore. It came with instructions to make it multiregion.

    It says
    1. Insert the DVD and press [CD DVD].
    2. Wait for incompatibility message to appear.
    3. Then press the following sequence of buttons [right], [up], [shuffle], [stop], [mute].
    4. * Cd tray will open and close (didn't for me, did it manually).
    5. Play DVD for 30 secs and then [stop].
    6. Press the off button and wait for 30 secs.

That's it. It may or may not work cos mines from Singapore but its worth a shot.

    cheers

    Hi,

I bought a lifestyle 28 from the states and bought it back to Singapore. Armed with the crack code, I hook up the system and was ready to de-code it but, after loading in my pirated Transformer bought from China, I was pleasantly surprised that it actually played with no problem at all. I tried with another dvd(from China as well), and it played like any other dvd player!!

Does Bose media centre has a kind of locking code function(like some dvd player and computer) whereby it locks the code of the last dvd disc it played or revert to the actual region it supposed to play after playing disc from other regions for a couple of times?

    Thanks!

    Elliot

  5. Pirated DVDs are usually region free.

yes. some dvds are not encoded with region codes and they should be playable by any player, even the players that are locked to regions.

Hi, my first post. I bought a Bose AV18 recently to replace an AV28 that had a broken cd/dvd mechanism. All has been well until I did the above multi region hack - the unit will now play multi region dvd's however the picture aspect ratio doesn't fill the screen, almost like it is 14:9 rather than 16:9. I've tried system settings on the Bose unit & also on my TV, nothing allows me to get full screen.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
