  3. @MACS RULE:
Still a free program as the DVDx 4 Open Edition.

please take a few minutes to read the FAQ and guides, you'll save your time:
    http://www.labdv.com/dvdx/faq.php
    http://www.labdv.com/dvdx/help.php

For further posts, please provide exact error message so I can be for help.

    @SWBisbee:
Activation shouldn't be an issue. I had this internet connection failure in testings but only once and when I clicked again the activation button it worked... Ensure it's not a firewall issue... See my reply in the other forum in there

We are using DVDx4 to open a DVD them make it readable to use in Simple Viewer. the DVD is of a rugby league game then sections are cut an put into RLeague Analyzwe. We have been doing this on the DVDx2 for at least a year or so with no issues. we have just got a new computer and installed dvdx4. it worked fine about 2 weeks now every time I try to open the DVD it

It gets to 100% then says...

    Failed to set Player Input.

MACS RULE!!!: SWBisbee is discussing his own problem with DVDx with the author, not addressing yours.

Does it exhibit the same error with any DVD you try?

(I'll admit I don't use DVDx, so I'd better leave this to Starbuck2010 to answer. )

    I get this error:

    Failed to load movie from:
    C:\Users\Jay\Video/output.avi
    This path doesn't exist.

I successfully completed two encoding jobs. This one won't go. Encoding stops at 25% each time.

    Anyone else have same problem?
Why is there a forward slash in the error message?

  10. The error:

    Failed to load movie from:
    C:\Users\Jay\Video/output.avi
    This path doesn't exist.
comes when encoding job is finished and DVDx 4.0 tries to load output (encoded) file, if DVDx 4.0 has failed to create the output file.

This happens with sone jobs due to:
    - incorrect input (DVD corrupted, file too far from video format standards)
    - bad DVDx 4.0 internal command (rare but may happens with some particular codecs settings)

I will release a DVDx 4.1 preview very soon, correcting most of these errors.

  11. 4.0 Open Edition is free, completely free and does the best with open-source tools.

4.1 Preview is not free but cheap (less expensive than DVDFab) and very fast and with on-the-edge decryption schemes and easy_to_use transcoding profiles (using internally FFmpeg):

Powerful DVD and Blu-ray ripper and transcoder:
    • include latest DVD and Blu-ray disc decryption schemes
    • decrypts Blu-ray discs even with latest versions of AACS and BD+
    • decrypts almost any DVD and HD-DVD disc
    • rip 3D Blu-ray
    Transcoding profiles:
    • 3g2.ini : 3G2/3GPP mobile phone
    • apple.ini : Apple (iOS-Based Devices)
    • avi.ini : Microsoft AVI (DivX/Xvid/MPEG-4)
    • bluray.ini : H.264/MPEG-4 AVC (Blu-ray Disc)
    • copy.ini : copy in or strip out original tracks
    • dvvideo.ini : MiniDV/DV/DVCAM/DVCPRO recorders format
    • flv.ini : Flash Video (Adobe MPEG-4 video)
    • h264.ini : H.264/AVC (HDTV)
    • lossless.ini : lossless video (I Frame-only)
    • mkv.ini : MKV (Matroska video)
    • mp4.ini : MP4 (MPEG-4/QuickTime)
    • mpeg2.ini : MPEG-2 (CVD/SVCD/DVD)
    • p2p-avc.ini : Peer-To-Peer H.264/AVC file sharing
    • p2p-divx.ini : Peer-To-Peer DivX/MPEG-4/Xvid file sharing
    • postprod.ini : Post-Production (Video editing)
    • prores.ini : Apple ProRes video editing (I Frame-only)
    • webm.ini : Google WebM (licensing-free H.264 alternative)
    New backend manager:
    • colorful-text process console
    • interactive console to input user command to test backend engines
    • very fast application start (all initialization processes are started
in parallel and font cache update is done in background)
    Code:
    • complete rewriting based on Starbuck's FreePlayer and Starbuck's C++ Library including Console, Media, MediaPlayer, Process, Transcoder and Widget classes. Starbuck's C++ Library project is the framework (based on Digia Qt) for software products edited by labDV.com team.

  12. DVDx 4.1 Preview is out: 4.1.0.1 but requires activation (free trial/free limited version may be available next year) because it relies on non-free software we have to pay for.

But I guess it's worth it as DVDx 4.1 includes makemkvcon so decrypting is now best-in-class, no need of additional software and decrypts all: Blu-ray, HD-DVD and DVD.

DVDx 4.1 is a major update which may solve many issues you've faced before.
