I have been using my Sony Handycam Video with iMovie (on MacBookPro) with no problem. Now that I am trying to use it with iStopMotion (HomeEdition), the software complains with the following message "Unable to decompress your camera's image format cause a suitable codec is missing. A proper codec is included in Apple's pro application such as Final Cut Studio Pro of Logic Pro".

Do I really need another Codec if iMovie was able to deal with the Cam?

    How to find missing codec?

    Thanks for your help.

Moving you to our mac section.

iMovie might have builtin support for that codec.

  3. first you convert your AVCHD file with iMovie (will produce a QuickTime compliant file)
Then you give your QuickTime compliant file to a QuickTime compliant software

    bye
    For DVD, iPad, HD, connected TV, … iMovie & FCPX? MovieConverter-Studio 3 (01/24/2015) - Handle your camcorder's videos? even in 60p or 60i? do a slow-motion? MovieCam.
