  1. Which programs do you know of that can cut mp3 files and save, without recompressing?

I have mp3directcut here but i find the UI rather cumbersome.

VCD normally has MPEG 1 layer 2 audio, MP2. But random MPEG 1 video files can have MP3 audio.

  6. I'm not sure if Audition will do it without recompressing, but it may. One alternative is to make your cut, then save the file as uncompressed wav, then convert that back to mp3 with your choice of bitrate. I don't think that would cause any quality loss.

    the question was:

Which programs do you know of that can cut mp3 files and save, without recompressing?
nope, Audition (as almost all other WAV editor) decompresses for doing any editing on the stream. AFAIK MP3directcut is the only solution without loss
