Sorry for my bad english, I'm french and I have no answer to french section.
I convert mkv to mp4 for iTunes support and no transcode on Plex on apple TV 4.

Apple TV 4 & iPhone : no problem (i don't test if I fix bitrate on iPhone Plex)
On VLC or PLEX (Web or with chromecast), the last text stay on screen to end. I use Jubler and subtools to verify subtitles, and I have not time problem.

I give you three files to see the problem :

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7DOAAR9DJMdVENnZWFjTmhja1U/view

I test on VLC 2.2.4 and nightly releases, on windows 10 & mac OS X El Capitan.
I don't test with kodi, jriver, etc.. no problem with quicktime.

If I extract .srt, to play with external srt is good
I must add a line ([FRENCH]) in the last second of movie, but it's too long to do to each movie. Is there a batch to do this ? (with mac)

Can you help me to find a speed solution ?

Thank you and sorry for my bad english.

  2. The muxing looks bad (last entry in stsc box is not correct). ffmpeg does not seem to handle this well and also doesn't react to the edit list. Not 100% sure if this is the cause but it would only affect files with an uneven number of subtitle lines. Can you confirm that this is only happening to on average half of your mp4 files?

Lots of software is based on ffmpeg. I don't think there is quick fix but I might ask developers and think about a batch. Will report back.

Yes, this is only happening on average half of files.
    1) Ivi Pro = always
    2) Mp4Tools = always
    3) subler = often
    4) iffmpeg = often

Subler developers say it's a vlc or plex bug : https://bitbucket.org/galad87/subler/issues/329/subtitles-the-last-line-stays-on-scree...mment-36122835
    Plex forum : https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/267609/help-the-last-text-of-subtitles-stay-on-screen/p1

mp4 with iTunes timed txt is old format. It's surprising there is again bug with it.

If you have a quick solution for me, it would be awesome !

  4. I think I have to go back on my first assessment. It may be more complicated. I reported it to ffmpeg and I see the Plex devs accepted your report as well.
