    Hi everyone.
I try to find a cable for Sony RM-690 remote control for Sony U-Matic VO-6800PS, which is referred as "Special Mini Cable" in the manual.
It resembles a TRS audio jack with plug diameter 2.5mm and plug length longer than 11 mm (0.43") as normal this plug is.
It seems to be a 16 mm (0.62") or longer jack.
Does anybody know what kind of plug is?

  2. Panasonic sometimes used a similar connector cord in certain remotes, although they were usually permanently attached to the remote (not separate and detachable like this Sony).

You will probably not be able to find a generic, inexpensive, locally-sourced replacement cable with these connectors today, unless someone can reply with the exact specifications of the plug size/wiring (or a reference to it being used in some other device that was far far more common than a proprietary broadcast VCR remote). Both Sony and Panasonic had an annoying habit of using oddball custom variations of 2.5mm and 3.5mm miniplug: once that professional/broadcast VCR or remote control went out of production, replacement cords became unobtainable. 35 years later, many of the remotes themselves are hard to find (often each VCR had its own specific remote).

Your best chance of finding a replacement cord would be contacting a dealer, broker or distributor who specializes in this type of vintage/obsolete professional/broadcast hardware. There may not be such a dealer in or near Romania, but there should be one in Germany or UK. The largest dealer in USA is The Broadcast Store in Los Angeles: perhaps email them for assistance with sourcing the remote cord.

@orsetto: Thank you for your answer.
    Very informative.
I will follow your advice regarding searching Germany, Uk and especially contacting TBS.
