Someone had a similar question about kvcd. There were no problems there so i see no issue with mvcd. Let us know if that is the case.

I suspect it is the GOP length. Do you know what the GOP length is for MVCD?

    GOP: group of pictures

There is a fixed max GOP length in the DVD spec for NTSC & PAL. I am thinking that MVCD may not fall within this max value. As there is no reencoding taking place then the GOP structure of the assets is replicated in the DVD and so must be DVD compliant.

Easiest way to check this out is to upload a mvcd mpeg to ftp://BetaTester:b%40dger@ftp.svcd2dvdmpg.com:7676/MVCD/ and i will take a look.

It does. Make sure that you are using PASV ftp as it may be an issue with your firewall/router... If you are using Internet Explorer:

I think it is the other way around... No matter. It works now:

Pred has a RIFF header. Prior to RC1 these would not import into SVCD2DVD..... In RC1/2 they do.

I have made a small omission too in the code but after the RIFF2MPG bit has completed reload pred.mpg and it should work. The original is renamed to xxx-ORIG.mpg. The asset reload should be automatic but like i said i missed that bit!

Let me know therefore if you have sucess with RC2

Well my suspicions were correct about the GOP length. Matrix has an average GOP length of 80+.

It should be 15 maximum for PAL mpegs in order to be DVD compatible.

Pred has an average GOP length of around 20 which again is too high but many DVD players are forgiving to some degree…..

Your options are to re-encode the mpgs to have a DVD compliant Max GOP length.

    Sorry about that.

Is such a high GOP length part of the mvcd "spec"?

Well you will need an encoder which can do mvcd templates.... otherwise your resultant file will be a lot bigger than the original.

As i have never encoded mvcd i am not sure which will do the job, maybe tmpegenc?
