GTX 1050 has the same encoder as the 1080 ti I believe.

I did a little research. A GTX 1080 Ti has two NVENC engines so, it would potentially be faster than a GTX 1050 Ti under some conditions. See this thread in another forum: https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/987460/nvdec-cuda-nvenc-speed-comparison/

Have to wonder why Nvidia would do that unless a single chip can't do 4k60.

    Hi,
i had 1050ti and tested 4min 57s mins long video. Then i purchased 1070ti. Tested same video. Both has same chip but 1070ti was about 5% faster. Probably because 4GB vd 8GB but don't believe much in this, also there is difference big in cuda cores, but they shouldn't be included. So there is some faster encodings in higher GPU class. But why, don't know. Used just encoding to Nvenc HEVC, no filters no audio.

    Actual difference was 4m 46s vs 4m 32s

not the 3Gb version I hope, apparently it is a crippled construct (less cores !!??!!) than the 6Gb version.

  8. i have 6gb 1060
and just found out that its software optimization not the hardware
means if you have 2080ti it wont get you best untill the software is optimise, and also 2080 series is expensive, even 1080
