  1. Hello,

I'm looking for a microcassette reader.

The microcasette is an ole done (dictasette M50) and the doesn't fit in common readers.

Does someone know which reader could fit ?

    Thank you

If so, there should be no shortage of players around.
Unless the particular model you need had some sort of encryption or proprietary recording/playback method.

There is the standard "compact cassette", then the smaller "mini-cassette", the even smaller "micro-cassette", and the smallest "pico-cassette". There was also a larger "el-cassette" (el = L = large) or elcaset.
The micro was quite popular & common. The mini, less so. The pico, even less. The el was a flop, and is quite rare.

If you are truly referring to the kind made for "Dictsette", that should have been the pico. Unlike the micro, players will be hard to find. Also unlike the mini & micro, you cannot just do the trick of taking the tape out of its shell and putting it into a compact cassette to capture at wrong speed and afterwards change the sampling rate/pitch (which also could be used on reels and 16/45/78 records). The width of the tape is more narrow and is quite thin so it would wander around the head on tape travel and also likely snap during uneven/higher tension.
So you have a harder road of finding a working player.

Might be worth checking with audio/video transfer houses to see if they still stock that kind and will perform the transfer+capture for you.
