    Hello all

Forgive me if this is a common topic or is well known here, (I did try a search on the subject but got to many responses).

I've been having a problem with the video playback of certain videos in WMP and from the recommnedation of a post I made a while back here used GSpot to find out that it is a codec issue.

The one in particular is MPEG2 which is using DScaler MPEG2 Video decoder but in using GSpots test option I found several other codec's or decoders that work fine.

So my question is, how can I switch WMP to use one of those codec or decoder so I can get my proper playback again.

Preferable I was hoping there might be a program (hopefully simple one) that would let me see and test the codec and then designate it as the default one to use.

    Thanks.

You would need to change the "Merit" of a particular codec to make it the default one used. You could try one of these tools at https://www.videohelp.com/tools?toolsearch=merit

Thanks Safesurfer, that did the trick, took a bit of figuring out and a reboot but I was able to set the Moonlight codec to 0x8 and bounced the DScaler down to 0x6 and it fixed it , thanks a bunch!
