  1. I burnt flac to cd as per https://www.poweriso.com/tutorials/burn-flac-to-cd.htm

but it won't play in VLC. The disc says cda files . i know these are not audio just pointers but the disc says 0 kb used and 0 kb free. How can it say that when 15 tracks/685 MB are written to it?

OK fixed it plays in VLC seems to take few mins to load. also still says the disc is 0 kb used and 0 kb free

No error messages when you burnt your CD-R ?

Run the disk through Windows Explorer. Those 'pointers' should be 1K in size.

That could be down to media or even burn speed.

Always, even for CD burn at half max speed.

Try turning off the Allow metadata Network Access option.

Windows Explorer always reports that for audio CDs.
