Ok, DO NOT get me started on Linux, Wine, Crossover Shitbox, or any other "alternative medicine" type issues. It's bad enough to be a Shrink zealot, without being a LINUX USING SHRINK ZEALOT!

I just burned my first disk with Decrypter and Shrink. It worked fine, but not any better than Nero 5.5. I am not sure if Decrypter can burn directly in 98 because of file size, but it worked through Shrink, which will be nice if I ever get a DL disk since Nero 5.5 will not do DL. I have not seen any speed differences with Decrypter vs. Shrink for ripping, except for the initial analysis (which has to be done anyway if it is DVD9). I also have not found a disk that shrink can't rip and Decrypter can, except for a scratched one that I had to set decrypter to ignore errors to rip. I have found that the new quality settings in Shrink do improve the output when compression is below 60%, but it is way slow.

I just ripped a disk with Shrink that would not rip in Decrypter. Don't really know why. Decrypter just gave an invalid bup file and would not continue. Shrink did fine and the backup played fine. I didn't try Smart ripper.

there's your answer right there . DVDDecrypter is trying to rip a corrupt BUP file but finds it can't and barfs. DVDShrink on the other hand doesn't even require the BUP files to process the DVD as it just creates new ones by copying the new IFO's when it's finished processing

  6. Until DL gets perfected, I think I'll just stick with splitting via DVDRemake.

It's rarely very hard to do, and never yet impossible.

    That's wasted CPU cycles.

  9. DVDShrink is more magically delicous than a box of Lucky Charms.
In fact I like it so much I think I'll name my first born it.

    Little known DVDShrink facts:
It will leave your dishes squeaky clean.
It will remove tarter and plaque.
    It will polish fine silver.
    It will polish your car.
    It slices and dices.
It's a dessert topping and a floor wax.

    things DVDShrink still doesn't do

pay the bill for renting a DVD
pay for loads of blank DVDR's
how to put the DVD into the tray
how to eject the DVD from the tray
pop the DVD back in the post
take the DVD back to the rental store
fully remove stuff as it just blanks them out wasting 'valuable' space
